I wanted to give a quick overview of the past couple of days to catch everyone up on our adventure. I’ll work on another post later with a deeper dive into our days in Lisbon with more photos. Our current Covid status continues to be pretty Ok but I’m guessing we’ d still test positive. We’re being cautious with masking and all travel is 100% masked. We feel mostly quite fine.
Although everything is straightened out now, the trip from Menorca through to Lisbon was another painful one, only lightened by the fact that we were able to share the pain with Rachel Ross, one of the Photopills masters. She was also traveling through to Lisbon to catch a return flight to her home in Canada.
So the flight we originally booked from Menorca was rescheduled several times with shifts in seat assignments and schedule. When we got off in Madrid, the gate was really far away. We eventually got there, but they weren’t letting anyone else on. We were also kind of shocked to see that Rachel had somehow gotten there before us, as we’d gotten off first. She said she’d run the whole way with all her carry-ons. We still can’t imagine how she beat us to the gate. Next we ended up in a painfully slow moving line of folks re-booking onto other flights to reach their destinations. After hours of slowly crawling along, we all got seats together on the next flight out a couple of hours later. Iberia really managed this all very badly.
When we arrived in Lisbon we went to collect our bags and Pam’s was missing. We eventually found the baggage claim office and had another long wait to report the missing bag. Rachel was helpful and reached out to Pam to help if she could. The Portuguese missing baggage office actually seemed reasonably competent although it was several more hours before we were able to make our report.
We met up with Rachel to say our goodbyes and looked for a cab to head to our apartment rental. It was still almost two days before Pam finally got her bag back, but at least we got it.

Whew!
